Laurie discovered the benefits of acupuncture 20 years ago after breaking her tailbone snowboarding. She had little success in treating her pain until she was referred to a chinese doctor by her massage therapist. Needless to say, her experience with acupuncture and cupping was extremely successful and she has never looked back. Years later Laurie decided to become trained in acupuncture and chinese medicine herself.

Laurie completed her diploma in acupuncture at the Pacific Rim College in Victoria BC in 2014 and has been practicing in Fernie for the past 5 years. She has mainly practiced in a multidisciplinary clinic and enjoys working with different modalities to achieve maximum support for her clients treatment goals. Laurie has been involved in sport and dance her whole life and found her focus naturally veered towards sports medicine.  Although Laurie does a lot of musculoskeletal focused treatments she always bases her diagnosis and treatment plans rooted in traditional chinese medicine. Laurie has a passion for cupping as well as acupuncture as it has proven to be monumental in speeding recovery times for both herself and her clients.

Another aspect of her love of acupuncture is treating mental emotional issues, in particular with auricular acupuncture called NADA. Acupuncture is very helpful in managing symptoms associated with anxiety, depression, and addictions. Laurie is a certified AcuDetox Specialist.

Laurie is the mother of two beautiful teenagers and a hound. She moved to the beautiful Okanagan last year and enjoys most of her time in nature, running, snowboarding and camping. She is very happy to be joining the KLO team.
